PROTECT YOUR INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE (TOO)

The frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks are rapidly increasing. And while we often hear about cybercrime in the financial world or at the level of nation-states, industry is also a prime target. Because everything is now interconnected with Industry 4.0. In an international study conducted in 2020 by Fortinet (a specialist in cybersecurity solutions and services), 58% of large industrial companies report having experienced a security breach in their IoT systems in the past year. For its part, security specialist Kaspersky reports in a 2020 study that 93% of companies believe their cybersecurity strategy is insufficient.

Similarly, the Ponemon Institute’s independent study states that 61% of companies say that outdated IoT systems were the biggest obstacle to reducing cyber risks. Finally, a study by the trade association Agoria of 77 Belgian manufacturing companies shows that 55% of respondents say they do not use or consider any standards for IoT cybersecurity.

It concludes that “the IoT environment is very technologically vulnerable” and that “manufacturing companies are generally not able to adequately respond to and quickly recover from an IoT cyber incident.”

In manufacturing companies, computer (IT) networks and industrial operational technology (OT) networks are increasingly merging due to digital transformation.

This convergence between IT and OT is driving the need to integrate equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), industrial control systems (ICS), the industrial internet of things (IIoT), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and distributed control systems (DCS).

THE INDUSTRIAL CYBERSEC FORUM IS AIMED AT SPECIALISTS IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY AS WELL AS THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATION AND SECURITY OF INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENTS TO ENABLE THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE LATEST TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS. THE VAN DER VALK HOTEL IN NIVELLES SUD OFFERS SUPER-EQUIPPED CONFERENCE ROOMS, A 500 M2 SPACE FOR SPONSORS AND AMPLE PARKING.
